ADD YOUR NAME: urge our electric utilities to bring our tax dollars back into Wisconsin to create good jobs and green homes before the Sept 30th annual federal application deadline! (especially in the communities in Wisconsin's "Driftless Area" declared disaster areas by flooding and storms)
Dear local electric utility leadership
Wisconsinites in counties damaged by floods, storms and climate change need hope that their communities will be rebuilt stronger to prevent future disasters. You have the ability, by applying for the USDA's "RESP" funding by the September 30th FY19 application deadline, to create hundreds of local energy efficiency jobs in home and business energy efficiency repair, rehab and upgrades and building improvements. Jobs in solar installation, plumbing, insulation, HVAC and more for homes at NO COST to residents through what are known as "on-bill" style programs, where residents see immediate savings.
For example, Roanoke Electric in North Carolina is helping residents through an "on-bill" program to lower their utility bills by ~$1,440 a year on average, with the utility claiming half and homeowners keeping ~$700 ($58/mo) every year and no upfront cost! The utility has had such success they want to support others in following their example. We can do this here!
The USDA "RESP" program offers 20 years' worth of funding to utilities to build stronger. Help us rebuild the urban and rural regions of Wisconsin by sending a letter of intent to the USDA by September 30th's annual deadline! (Only utilities can apply) Together we can build stronger homes for working class and middle class residents without burdensome debt or large down payments. We can create hundreds of good energy efficiency jobs. And we can significantly reduce carbon emissions in our area by modifying buildings contributing to climate change. We are hopeful for an opportunity to partner to help the community, the economy, and the planet.
