OUR BILLS ARE TOO HIGH!

Georgia Power Wants An Extra $2.8 Billion And They're Asking the Public Service Commission To Take It From You!

This petition is for working-class people. It is for seniors who have to choose between medication or their electricity bills. This petition is for anyone who has ever received a disconnection notice. This petition is for anyone who has money, and works hard for it, and doesn't want to give it away to Georgia Power!

Georgia Power announced plans calling for a $200* increase per year for the average household. If approved, the first increase would go into effect in January 2023 and the monthly increase would be around $14, followed by additional increases in 2024 and 2025. Georgia Power is a multi-billion dollar company and has seen consistent profits, but it is being greedy and asking for more. Georgia Power should not be raising bills when gas prices are soaring, food costs are at an all-time high and families are struggling to make ends meet.

The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) has full authority over Georgia Power and they can disapprove the rate increase. We elect the PSC and their job is to ensure we have safe, reliable and AFFORDABLE electricity from Georgia Power. Instead of doing right by the people, the PSC has approved millions of dollars in rate increases for the company since 2008. In recent years, Georgia Power's rates have risen more than 21% for residential customers.  While people were dying and suffering the worst economic crisis in Georgia's history, your Public Service Commissioners voted to raise power bills, saddled you with Georgia Power's COVID-19 costs, and add new hidden fees and charges to your bill. Your Public Service Commissioners are supposed to be looking out for you.

Raising rates is unjustified, inequitable, and will hurt our communities. Sign the petition to tell the PSC - Don't raise My Bill!
