Send postcards to encourage youth voting in the May 16th primary for a new Mayor of Philadelphia!

Send hand-written postcards to young Philadelphia voters!!
*Order postcards by April 13th and mail them by April 24th, 2023*

The Municipal Primary Election for a new Philadelphia Mayor is May 16th, 2023. The deadline to register to vote is May 1st, 2023.

We know that young people benefit from reminders and encouragement to register and vote, and most are never contacted about municipal elections. They need to know that they can make an important difference in protecting the rights, freedoms and values that we all care about. And they can play a critical role when they ask a friend to register to vote. That's why our volunteers are sending hand-written postcards to encourage young people to register with a friend and turn out to vote in the Philadelphia Mayoral primary election.

We want to ensure that young people in Philly can make their voices heard. By writing personalized postcards to young voters, you can remind them to show up to the polls, ask a friend to register, and help them find their polling place.

Personalized postcards have been consistently shown to be an effective way to reach voters and increase engagement. Young people are energized and enthusiastic about having a role in our democracy!

Here's how it works: When you contribute, you can choose one of three options:

1) You can receive postcards to send yourself (postage not included).

2) If you prefer, you can designate your donation to support our work.

3) You can choose to receive some postcards and to make an additional contribution.

You can either use names and addresses we provide, or use your own list.

We ship the postcards using USPS, so please expect 5-7 days for delivery.

The last day to register online to vote for the May 16th election is May 1st, so please mail your postcards by April 24th.

By placing your order, you confirm below that you will use the information we provide only for nonpartisan, noncommercial purposes and that you will not further publish any information you receive from us including names and addresses, including on the internet. For example, we would love it if you post a photo of your cards on social media, and if you do that, do please make sure to cover up the name or address of the recipient to respect their privacy.

Why our campaign is special

Our campaign is part of a larger program aimed at increasing youth voter registration and turnout. We do not work with any candidate or party. Our postcards include a special QR code that enables recipients to easily access our voter registration portal. If they are not old enough to register, they can pledge to register in the future. When they use our portal, we can follow up with them to provide further resources and information, and we can encourage them to vote. If they live in a state without online voter registration, they can also request to have a physical voter registration form mailed to them free of charge. Because our goal is to support young voters beyond the registration process, we do not provide names and addresses outside of our campaigns.

Our suggested donation amounts offset our costs in running our youth voter outreach program, including design, research, printing, shipping, handling, administration, volunteer support, and GOTV outreach. Helping young people overcome the obstacles to voting takes a great deal of persistence, education, and effort, and we are so grateful for any help you can provide in support of this work. Your donations also enable us to provide materials free of charge to individuals who wish to participate in our nonpartisan youth electoral outreach, and who are not in a position to donate to help offset the costs. If you wish to participate but do not wish to donate, please contact jenny@thecivicscenter.org for further details.

If you have groups of volunteers interested in nonpartisan youth electoral outreach, and you wish to distribute larger or customized quantities of cards to your members, please also contact jenny@thecivicscenter.org for details on how we can work with your group.

Thank you from all of us at The Civics Center!
