Want to protect elections at the local level?

Become a Democracy NC Elections Advocate!

In North Carolina, the implementation of election administration changes is often decided at the local level. Since the elimination of federal reporting requirements in 2013, we need to understand how the election system operates to ensure transparency and accountability in our electoral process. Shortages in county budgets, changes to voting rules, and the implementation of election laws could all impact the ability of voters to have their voices heard.

Our Elections Advocates are essential to our work as voting rights advocates. Election advocates provide Democracy NC data on election administration changes that are shared with voters statewide and they monitor the canvass process to ensure laws and rules are correctly implemented. They also strengthen relationships with CBOE members and directors, to provide real-time community input into changes that impact all voters.

NOTE: Some meetings are currently only offered in-person, while others allow virtual attendance.
