Pay Minor League Players a Living Wage

Minor league baseball players deserve a living wage.

Our recent report on player views on working conditions in minor league baseball found that 83% of players think salary is the biggest issue in the sport.

The Facts:

  • The average minor league player made less than $10,000/year in 2021.
  • Given the hours worked throughout the year, many players earned less $7.25/hour, the federal minimum wage.
  • It would cost each team around $5 million/year to pay every minor leaguer a living wage.

We are calling on Major League Baseball to raise the minimum salary for minor league players to $35,000 a year, ensuring players wages are in line with federal living wage standards.
