Twin Cities DSA Event/Meeting/Office Space: Member Survey

At the 2022 Chapter Convention, two resolutions (Resolution #2 and Resolution #3) passed calling on the chapter to obtain a physical space for our chapter. This builds on disussions that have been ongoing in how to best support member's vision for the chapter. Several of these threads suggested the potential of a dedicated space for Twin Cities DSA.

Some specific potentials to having our own space that have been discussed;

  • Reading theory and book clubs.

  • In-person meeting space.

  • Introductory gatherings centered in fun leftist community building.

  • Host/sponsor discussions/lectures to introduce neighbors to more socialist thinking and action

We currently have an office at Boneshaker Books, which serves to store most chapter supplies. This includes the ability to reserve a meeting space in the building. We have traditionally, pre-pandemic, reserved spaces such as library meeting rooms, event spaces, and outdoor pavilions as needed for chapter events. As much as anything, this survey is to ask members how a physical space can enhance our organizing. We would like to hear what you think our space should be, what we could do with it, and how we can build it together.

We would also like to tap into you local knowledge. Have you seen an available space that we should check out, or know of a space that would be a good example? Let us know, we will want to get as much information as possible to help us understand our options moving forward.
