AGENDA FOR THE DAY

  • 8:00am - Breakfast and event kickoff at United Way (Meet Lakeshore Technical College's "Lenny the Leopard"!)
  • 8:30am - Volunteers depart for their project sites
  • 12:00-12:30pm - Volunteers return to United Way for lunch (optional)

General ranch and program preparations. We will have just moved into a new location, so it's a little hard at this point to know what will be needed on this day. More information will be available after June 1. Might be some painting and cleaning up of areas to establish program spots. If our larger painting project doesn't get done beforehand, that might be on the list (front of a one-story garage). 4+ Volunteers Needed


Volunteers will be helping in our hydroponics farm, helping in the food pantry, or helping with the backpack program. 5-10 Volunteers Needed.


Two projects available: 1) Organize and restock donation room on guest floor with products from the second floor donation room; 2) Clean up kitchen area - clean oven, refrigerators, freezers, etc., and organize cabinets. 5-10 Volunteers Needed.


Volunteers needed to stain our outside play set. This would involve being on a ladder for 1-2 people for some of the time. It has a slide, rock climbing wall, enclosed platform, and two swings. We also have some landscaping to do (pulling weeds, raking mulch) if the staining is completed early. 3-4 Volunteers Needed.


Volunteers needed to paint a room in the shelter to give it a refresh. 


Volunteers needed to clean dog runs and clean up the yard. Volunteer Positions FILLED.


General cleaning, general groundskeeping, or Summer Camp preparation. 5 Volunteers Needed.

Come work the earth and enjoy the outdoors here at the Arboretum. We will be pulling weeds, taking care of some invasives, and tending the trails. So raking, hoeing, pulling dandelions, and maybe some honeysuckles. We will also definitely being enjoying some birdsong and a little bit of communion with nature. 3-10 Volunteers Needed.

Terms

This VOLUNTEER LIABILITY RELEASE & PHOTO AUTHORIZATION (this "Release") is executed as of date written below by the undersigned Volunteer (or Parent/Legal Guardian of Volunteer if Volunteer is under age 18) (hereafter referred to using “I,” “me,” or “my”) in favor of United Way Manitowoc County, and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, sponsors, agents, and affiliates (collectively, “UWMC”).

 

I desire to volunteer for UWMC and engage in activities related to being its volunteer (the “Activities”). I also acknowledge and understand that as a volunteer I will receive no compensation or remuneration for my services, am not an employee, and will not be eligible for any employee benefits. In exchange for being allowed to participate in the Activities as a volunteer and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which I acknowledge, I hereby freely, voluntarily, and without duress execute this Release and agree to the following terms:

 

USE OF INFORMATION: I understand that UWMC may enter my name and some information about the volunteer events in which I participate into a database to help UWMC evaluate the impact of its volunteer work.

 

ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I am aware and understand that the Activities may be inherently dangerous and may expose me to a variety of foreseen and unforeseen hazards and risks. I acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in the Activities and have considered those risks. I hereby expressly and specifically assume such risks, including any and all risk of injury, harm, or loss that I may incur as a result of my participation in the Activities.

 

MEDICAL TREATMENT: I hereby give consent and authority to the UWMC to obtain medical treatment on my behalf if I am injured or require medical attention during my participation in the Activities. I understand and agree that I am solely responsible for all costs related to such medical treatment, medical transportation, and/or evacuation. I hereby release, forever discharge, and hold harmless the UWMC from any claim whatsoever in connection with such treatment or other medical services.

 

LIABILITY RELEASE AND WAIVER: I hereby fully and forever release UWMC from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, in law or equity, that may arise with my participation in the Activities (including without limitation, any injury and/or property damage) that may arise with my participation in the Activities. I agree not to make or bring any such claim or demand against UWMC, and fully and forever release and discharge UWMC from liability under such claims or demands. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS RELEASE DISCHARGES UWMC FROM ANY LIABILITY OR CLAIM THAT I MAY HAVE AGAINST UWMC WITH RESPECT TO ANY BODILY INJURY, PERSONAL INJURY, ILLNESS, DEATH, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR PROPERTY LOSS THAT MAY RESULT FROM THE ACTIVITIES, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF UWMC OR OTHERWISE.

 

INDEMNIFICATION: I hereby agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless UWMC from any and all liability, losses, damages, judgments, or expenses, including attorneys' fees, that it may incur or sustain as a result of my participation in the Activities.

 

INSURANCE: I UNDERSTAND THAT UWMC DOES NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR OR OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OR OTHER ASSISTANCE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MEDICAL, HEALTH, OR DISABILITY INSURANCE OF ANY NATURE IN THE EVENT OF MY INJURY, ILLNESS, OR DEATH, OR DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF MY PROPERTY.

 

PHOTO AUTHORIZATION: I understand and agree that during the Activities, I may be photographed and/or videotaped by the UWMC for internal and/or promotional use. I hereby grant and convey to UWMC all right, title, and interest, including but not limited to, any royalties, proceeds, or other benefits, in any and all such photographs or recordings, and consent to UWMC's use of my name, image, likeness, and voice in perpetuity, in any medium or format, for any publicity without further compensation or permission. I (or my child) will not receive payment for these pictures or videos and will have no right to view or approve them before or after they have been used.

 

MISCELLANEOUS. I hereby agree that this Release represents the full understanding between UWMC and me and supersedes all other prior agreements, understandings, representations, and warranties, both written and oral, between us, with respect to the subject matter hereof. If any term or provision of this Release shall be held to be invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, that term or provision shall be deemed modified so as to be valid and enforceable to the full extent permitted. The invalidity of any such term or provision shall not otherwise affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining terms and provisions. This Release is binding on and inures to the benefit of UWMC and me and our respective heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors, and permitted assigns. Section headings are for convenience of reference only and shall not define, modify, expand, or limit any of the terms of this Release.

GOVERNING LAW: I hereby agree that this Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted, and that this Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without reference to any choice of law doctrine.
