Save Willert Park!

Help Us Save Willert Park/A.D. Price Courts!

The Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority would prefer to demolish Willert Park/A.D. Price Courts. Despite the fact that Willert Park Courts was named one of the United States' 11 Most Endangered Historic Places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Willert Park/A.D. Price Courts has also been determined to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places as it has made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history (Criteria A) and it embodies distinctive characteristics of a type, a period, and possesses high artistic value (Criteria C).

Please ask the BMHA to reconsider their approach and decisions toward Willert Park/A.D. Price Courts which is a significant part of Black history in Western New York and the nation.

Save Willert Park/A.D. Price Courts

Mr. Gillian D. Brown, Esq,

I strongly oppose the demolition of Willert Park/A.D. Price Courts. I'm writing today to urge you to join me in opposing this demolition. Willert Park/A.D. Price Courts has been determined to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places as it has made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history (Criteria A) and it embodies distinctive characteristics of a type, a period, and possesses high artistic value (Criteria C). Please support Preservation Buffalo Niagara and the Michigan Street Preservation Corporation's efforts to preserve this important piece of history by supporting their efforts to list the complex on the National Register and make it a local landmark, and please make them the Designated Developer for twenty four months so that they can find alternatives to demolition. There are many alternatives for providing new larger housing. Demolishing an important historic site is not the only way for the BMHA to meet its goals. Thank you for time and please reconsider. Cc: Council President Darius G. Pridgen; Mayor Byron W. Brown

Sincerely, [Your information here]
