Urge Congress to Address Climate Change

Demand Leadership on Climate Change

Climate change is one of the largest threats to our national security and economy. And yet, 139 out of 535 United States Members of Congress are climate deniers. These elected officials who refuse to acknowledge the scientific evidence of human-caused climate change represent 52% of House Republicans and 60% of Senate Republicans. Climate change has already wreaked havoc, as extreme weather events and temperature increases have destabilized many areas around the world. We cannot allow these deniers to drive American climate policy.

Climate change is a national security, environmental and ethical issue, and must be addressed in every facet of US economic and foreign policy.

As Jews, it is our responsibility to preserve and protect our planet. That is why Jewish Dems support efforts to robustly mitigate the impact of climate change, address its inevitable consequences without delay, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the use of clean energy and other incentives. President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act made unprecendeted investment in renewable energy and combating climate change, and his proposed American Jobs Plan would address climate change and jumpstart the green economy in America; experts estimate that it will generate millions of clean energy jobs and help us build a modern carbon-pollution free energy system by 2035. However, more is still needed from Congress to effectively combat climate change and mitigate the damage to our future.

Urge your member of Congress to demonstrate leadership and support bold action to mitigate the effects of climate change.
