The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) is working with community partners in Albemarle and Charlottesville to envision and implement a network of bicycle and pedestrian trails and greenways that connect different parts of the community and provide all residents with everyday access to the outdoors.
Examples of recent and current efforts include opening Biscuit Run Park, an emerging Five-Mile Circular Greenway in the heart of the community, closing Free Bridge Lane to vehicles and a system of greenways and access points along the Rivanna River.
These are not just nice to have: communities where all residents can get around without a car and have easy access to fresh air are healthier and more prosperous. We need your help to make that happen.
Projects require funding to come to fruition – funding that residents of both the County and the City have said over and over that they support. Currently, elected officials are reviewing proposed budgets for the 2025-2026 year, making this an ideal time to weigh in. Use this form to tell the Board of Supervisors/City Council.
