For the first time ever, CRGE endorsed a slate of candidates that came through the ranks of WCRJ membership and are unapolgethically committed to advancing racial equity for Black people and other marginalized communities. Desmon Yancy recieved the most votes in a crowded 5th aldermanic race, securing him a spot in the April 4th munical head-to-head run off election!
Its time to elect OUR OWN to be at the decision making tables!
We are proud to announce we are also endorsing Brandon Johnson for Mayor of Chicago, as well as a partnership with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights Action (ICIRR Action) to persuade and mobilize voters in wards 10 and 18 on his behalf.
We can't win this fight without YOU!
Join the Center for Racial and Gender Equity (CRGE) in our work to ensure that the right people are elected to represent our values and transform our communities. This includes ensuring "Our own" Desmon Yancy is elected as the next 5th Ward Alderman and working in the mayoral race for Brandon Johnson where we have the opportunity to elect one of the most progressive candidates since Harold Washington in a battle against white supremacy.
