Ceasefire in Palestine/Israel & Steps for Lasting Peace

Dear Senator Murray, Senator Cantwell, and Representative McMorris Rodgers,

We, the undersigned, express our deep concern for and denounce the U.S. role in the escalating violence and humanitarian crises in Palestine/Israel, Yemen, and Iraq. In over 120 days, the Israeli military has killed over 27,000 and injured over 67,000 human beings in Gaza. This war must stop!

We call upon your office to take urgent action for:

  • A comprehensive ceasefire in Palestine/Israel and ensuring the protection of civilians and their access to humanitarian aid

  • A hostage/prisoners' exchange

  • An end to U.S. military aid to Israel and U.S. military action in the region

  • An end to Israel's blockade of Gaza.

A renewed ceasefire agreement holds the potential to safeguard Palestinian and Israeli lives and protect U.S. soldiers by significantly reducing tensions across the region. We view these as necessary first steps, designed to prevent the loss of more lives and to lay the groundwork for comprehensive negotiations aimed at ending Israel's apartheid regime and illegal occupation and recognizing Palestinians' right to self-determination.

No one's lasting safety can be achieved through the suppression and suffering of any other group of people. We must reject antisemitism, Islamophobia, anti-Muslim racism, and all ideologies which dehumanize or denigrate any part of our human family. It is our firm belief that sustainable peace can only be achieved through diplomatic dialogue, respect for human rights, and the pursuit of just and equitable solutions.

As your constituents, we call on you to use the power of your elected office to foster a future where the people of Palestine/Israel, Yemen, and Iraq can rebuild their lives in security and prosperity.

Thank you for your attention to this pressing matter, and we eagerly await your response and action to fulfill these requests.
