Essential property service workers --like janitors, residential staff, security officers, airport workers, warehouse and laundry workers-- put their health and well-being on the line every day to keep our communities safe, secure and healthy.
That's why we are urging Congress to ensure essential property service workers keep their jobs, are compensated at a rate that recognizes their essential function and that they are provided PPE.
Janitors clean and disinfect hospitals, grocery stores, day care facilities, and the offices of tech corporations that keep us connected. Security officers facilitate social distancing guidelines at grocery stories and protect public buildings where government professionals are hard at work. Airport workers keep our transit system operational, laundry workers process hospital linens, and warehouse workers and residential workers like door staff make sure families have everything they need. While essential property service workers - who are often immigrants and people of color-- allow many in our communities to be safe at home, they and those close to them are disproportionately at risk of getting sick and dying.
When essential property service workers are protected, we protect our communities.
