For 22 years, our Women for Racial Justice Breakfast has been a unifying event that brings together the Pasadena community and beyond. This gathering fosters deep learning and inspires action to advance racial justice. Our 2024 theme, "Equity & Justice: Empowering Change," highlights our intersectional approach to addressing race and gender equity. We have a longstanding tradition of honoring those who drive change and take bold risks.
Our commitment to eradicating racial and gender disparities underscores the importance of celebrating and recognizing those who empower change. "Equity & Justice: Empowering Change" enables us to envision a world of belonging, unlock new possibilities, and connect across diverse movements and sectors. Solidarity empowers change.
The 22nd Annual YWCA Glendale & Pasadena Women for Racial Justice Breakfast is a fundraising event that draws hundreds of attendees, including corporate and community leaders, elected officials, and professionals throughout LA County. This event will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 8 AM to 10 AM. The Breakfast will feature a keynote speech by Angela Scott Lee, Executive Director of Harambee Ministries.
Through this event, we celebrate the commitment and dedication of our supporters, program participants, and community, as well as our business and government partners who advance our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. The goal of the event is to deepen the engagement of YWCA supporters, raise funds for YWCA programs and services, and raise awareness about societal issues at the intersection of race and gender. We are proud to honor the 2024 YWCA Women for Racial Justice awardees for their efforts in empowering change and fostering equity and justice.
We're honored to introduce you to Sundra Oakley, an accomplished actor, dancer, martial artist, and author, who has recently taken on the role of host for our upcoming Women for Racial Justice Breakfast. Her dynamic presence, both on and off the screen, will bring an inspiring energy to the event.
