Training Description
Puberty Happens is a curriculum aligned with Maine's Learning Results and the National Sex Ed Standards covering the changes of puberty, reproductive anatomy, hygiene, healthy friendships, and consent.
Join colleagues from around the state to learn about the 2024 edition of Puberty Happens and the key components within a puberty education program. Participants will leave the training with new lessons and activities to implement in the classroom or to use one-on-one with young people navigating the many changes of puberty.
Training Objectives
During the training, participants will:
Explore specific activities in the curriculum.
Increase comfort and skills in delivering lessons on puberty topics.
Describe ways to create an inclusive learning environment.
Practice responding to student questions.
Identify resources and tools available to support curriculum implementation.
Network with other educators delivering puberty education throughout Maine.
Who Should Attend?
This training is for educators, school nurses, counselors, and anyone who is providing puberty education to elementary students in grades 4-6.
