FREE LIGAYA

We are collecting signatures to #FreeLigaya from the abusive, toxic, emotionally and physically deteriorating double punishment she is suffering in the Adelanto ICE Detention Center. Read more on Ligaya's story:

The system has doubly punished her. She keeps fighting her case because she doesn't want to leave her home and her family behind. She has suffered tremendous emotional and mental abuse. One of her uncle's passed away due to Covid-19, and she could not be with her family. Ligaya has raised concerns and grievances regarding the food. She was made fun of and ridiculed by Sergeant Officer Castaneda and Ortiz whom she has raised her food concerns with. She said that she is constantly mocked and called a criminal by Sergeant Ortiz just because she is in detention. Her health has plummeted in the past two and a half years due to the poor nutrition she receives. She has developed multiple cysts in both of her breasts and a fatty tumor on her right armpit, the size of her thumb. She often gets diarrhea and refuses to eat the food they provide at the Detention Center.  She has resorted to buying food from the commissary, which is also very expensive and low in nutritional value. When Covid-19 first began spreading in Adelanto, the negligence and slow response caused her to contract the disease while in detention.  The disease greatly affected her cognitive function, physical strength, and overall wellness. Ligaya has reported tooth pain, and ICE has refused dental assistance. She also reports falling in the shower because there are no grits on the floor surface to prevent slips and falls.
