Climate Community Night is the monthly time when community members–from long-term volunteers to newly engaged activists to climate curious folks–come together to eat, build community, and take action together. On May 8th, you and yours are invited to join us to learn more about the relationship between climate justice and migrant justice, hear about efforts underway by our community partners to protect immigrant rights, and discover resources you can use and actions you can take in the months and years ahead.
The assault upon immigrant rights under the second Trump administration is proceeding at a dizzying pace, from escalating detainments and deportations to previously thinkable executive orders and actions that target millions of migrants and threaten the safety of everyone in the United States. The targeting of students and activists in recent months as well as the blatant xenophobia and racism propelling current immigration policy demand our preparedness and action. If you are committed to climate justice, you are committed to migrant justice, as the two are inextricably intertwined! So join us, learn more, and show up for migrant justice on May 8th! Show up for Migrant Justice on May 1st, too :)
This is a family friendly event; all ages and abilities are welcome. There will be a craft/coloring table for kids, and there is ample space in the building should a time out be required (that goes for adults too!)
Bring yourself, for sure, and if you can, something for the potluck! Feel free to pop in for as long as you are able, or come for the whole evening–in any case, we hope to see you there!
If you're new, you can also attend a new volunteer orientation before the potluck, to learn more about 350 Seattle and how to plug in (make sure to check the RSVP box below!). Here's the order of the evening:
6:15-6:45 pm New Volunteer Orientation in the 350 Seattle Office
6:30 pm Potluck Begins in the University Heights Auditorium
7:00-7:30 pm Program
7:30-8:30ish pm Socializing and Team Tabling
