Congress is currently debating cutting funding from essential programs to fund tax breaks for the wealthiest and corporations. These cuts would have a deeply negative impact on millions of Minnesotans. The letter below will be sent to Minnesota legislators, Governor Walz, and the Minnesota Congressional delegation. "As parents and community members who care about our little ones, we believe that our children are our future–the foundation of strong communities. Programs like Medicaid, Social Security, food assistance (SNAP), Head Start, and childcare are not luxuries — they are vital investments that keep our workers healthy, our families supported, and our local economies thriving so that our youngest Minnesotans have what they need.
We stand united in opposition to any proposals that cut these essential programs in order to fund tax breaks for the wealthy and large corporations.
Cuts to healthcare, education, nutrition assistance, and childcare funding would hurt families, destabilize communities, and make it harder for our children to succeed. Every dollar taken away from these supports is a dollar lost from our local economy, our community wellbeing, and our children's future.
We call on policymakers to:
Fully protect and fund Medicaid, Social Security, SNAP, Head Start, and childcare assistance.
Reject tax giveaways for the wealthiest Americans and big corporations.
Invest in the real economy — where small businesses and families drive growth, not Wall Street profits.
Our children thrive when our families and communities thrive.
We urge our elected leaders: Stand with children. Stand with families. Stand with communities."
