As we face health, biodiversity, and climate crises, drastic change has never been more urgent. The purpose of this revealing and engaging Forum series is to work together to chart a path for a livable and sustainable future. This seminar focusing on health is the first in a series of three this fall. Details for October and November seminars on biodiversity and climate, respectively, will be announced soon.
On November 29, we will address: Climate
THE PROBLEM: This session led by speaker Rachel Bezner Kerr, PhD, a Professor in Global Development at Cornell University, focuses on the scientific work that has been done to call attention to the urgency of the climate crisis, as captured in the United Nations Environment Program and World Health Organization report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability.
THE SOLUTION: The Rodale Institute produced a White Paper, Regenerative Organic Agriculture and the Soil Carbon Solution, in 2020, which outlines a strategy, based on the Institute's research, for combatting the climate crisis. Speaker: Andrew Smith, PhD, oversees the research and farm operations at Rodale Institute and is passionate about growing the organic movement by providing science-based solutions to farmers and facilitating opportunities to expand the number of organic farmers and farmland across the globe.
