Don’t Let These Bills Threaten Arizona’s Outdoor Way of Life

Public lands in Arizona are foundational for outdoor recreation and local economies and vital for Arizona's wildlife. Unfortunately, recent legislative measures threaten to undermine these essential resources. These bills attack our public lands in a variety of ways — from an outright call to dispose of BLM lands, to infringing on private property rights and limiting public access, to adding bureaucracy and hindering collaborative conservation efforts, and even going as far as calling for Arizona to be exempt from the 1906 Federal Antiquities Act — a valuable tool that has been used responsibly by both Republicans and Democrats over the last 119 years. Collectively, they are nothing short of a direct attack on Arizona's public lands and the places you love, and they threaten the future of hunting, fishing, and all types of outdoor recreation in our great state.

The Arizona Wildlife Federation (AWF) opposes Senate Concurrent Resolution 1018 (SCR1018), Senate Bill 1278 (SB1278), and House Concurrent Memorial 2012 (HCM2012). Learn more about each of these individual legislative measures on our 2025 Bill Tracker.

If passed, these legislative measures would limit essential conservation work and reduce opportunities for hunting, fishing, and recreation across our state.
