On January 6, our democracy and Capitol building were attacked by domestic terrorists in an insurrection incited by President Donald Trump. Earlier in the day, Trump had repeated false claims about the election and encouraged his supporters to go to the Capitol to thwart the peaceful and constitutionally-mandated transfer of power.

On January 13, Donald Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives for incitement of an insurrection. Donald Trump will forever be remembered as the only U.S. president to be impeached twice. He deserves that unique distinction and shame, and America deserves better than the abomination that was the Trump presidency. Now that the House has transmitted the article of impeachment to the Senate, we implore all U.S. senators to convict and prevent Trump from running for office.

The same Republican politicians who enabled Trump and furthered his lies about the election that led to the insurrection are now claiming that a Senate trial will divide the country. Jewish Dems reject this false narrative. The country cannot heal without accountability, and justice demands Trump's conviction.
