Call on the City of Appleton to Pass a Clean Energy Resolution!

No matter the color of our skin or the amount of money we make, we all deserve a country that's cleaner and fairer. We want a future where our communities are thriving, where our families are whole and earn a good living, and where the land, air, and water we depend on are healthy and beautiful. The City of Appleton has already taken a critical step in creating that future. Thanks to the work of the City Taskforce on Resiliency, Climate Mitigation, and Adaptation, the community has a strong list of recommendations to follow that will reduce Appleton's Carbon Footprint. Now is our time to act and let our elected officials know that now is the time to act and do their part to combat climate change!

By signing the petition below, I'm encouraging the City of Appleton Common Council to take the lead of the Taskforce they created by formally adopting the following recommendations

  • Create an Office of Climate Resiliency and Sustainability and hire a Sustainability Coordinator to lead the city's carbon reduction strategy
  • Commit to achieving 100 percent clean energy for city-owned facilities and operations by the year 2040
  • Establish the goal of reaching 75 percent clean energy community-wide by the year 2040

I call on the Appleton City Common Council to support this work, because when we come together: Black or white, Asian or Latinx, Indigenous or newcomer, we create a future for every community member, with no exceptions!  By signing this petition, I pledge that I will hold our elected officials accountable for their decisions, actions, and inactions.
