Tell Your Senator: Protect America's Wild Horses

On Tuesday, July 16,  the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee's Public Lands, Forests, and Mining Subcommittee will hold an "oversight" hearing on the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wild Horse and Burro Program. This hearing is being driven by pro-cattle industry members and will be completely stacked against America's wild horses and burros. All five witnesses are promoting a plan that will destroy wild free-roaming horse and burro populations through mass roundups, surgical sterilization of wild horses in the wild, and complete disruption of wild herds by skewing sex ratios to 70% stallions and 30% mares.

Your Senator is on this subcommittee, and YOU are in a unique position to influence this dangerous development. Please ask your Senator to oppose the plan and speak up for the American public, which overwhelmingly wants our wild horses and burros protected from cruel roundups, removals, and sterilization surgeries.

This hearing will happen ON TUESDAY, so please act immediately!

"Hi, this is [your name] and I am a constituent of Senator [Name]. I'm calling about tomorrow's Public Land Subcommittee hearing on the BLM Wild Horse Program. The hearing is unfairly stacked in favor of mass wild horse and burro roundups and risky surgical sterilization procedures. As a constituent, I request that Senator [Name] oppose the plan and stand up for the majority of Americans who want our treasured wild horses and burros protected and humanely managed. Thank you!"
