I support health and safety protections for California’s domestic workers!

Domestic workers, along with day laborers, are the only class of workers excluded from California's health and safety protections (Cal/OSHA). Domestic workers and employers are organizing to pass a new Health and Safety for All Workers bill in California to finally end this exclusion.

Domestic workers - who include nannies, housecleaners, and homecare providers/personal care attendants - are essential workers that can be exposed to many dangers on the job including toxic cleaning products, ergonomic strains, COVID and other viruses, as well as physical and sexual violence. They need health and safety rights today!

In 2021 and 2022, we won and authored voluntary health and safety guidelines for domestic workers and employers. This year's campaign will make health and safety a right, not just a recommendation, for domestic workers. It will give domestic employers the tools we need to protect the health and safety of our employees, our families, and ourselves. Specifically, it will provide financial and technical assistance to lower-income domestic employers to help them comply with health and safety requirements, as well as funding for community-based education for domestic workers and domestic employers about health and safety best practices.

When domestic employers and allies tell Governor Newsom and the California Legislature that we support health and safety protections for domestic workers, our elected officials listen.

Governor Newsom, California State Senators and Assemblymembers: Domestic employers and allies need you to vote yes on health and safety protections for domestic workers!
