House Republicans plan to pass a 10 year budget that slashes funding for Medicaid and SNAP (food stamps) in order to give $4.6 trillion in tax cuts to billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos and corporations that profit from denying us health care and polluting our planet, like Unitedhealth Group and Exxonmobil. Under their plan, the richest 1% would receive around $280,000 in tax cuts PER YEAR. People don't become billionaires through “hard work.” In fact, ⅓ of the world's billionaires inherited extreme wealth. And nearly all billionaires rely on the inheritance of structural racism, gender inequality, and an unfair tax system to be able to hoard and build their wealth.

In order to offset these tax cuts for the ultrarich, they've decided to cut $880 BILLION from our health care (mostly from Medicaid) AND $250 billion from SNAP/food stamps and allow kids to go hungry. Billionaires take from the most vulnerable. Billionaires stay rich by cheating the system and putting a big hole in government budgets that we end up paying to fill. PA's own Jeff Yass avoided hundreds of millions in federal taxes that should have provided healthcare to people who are elderly and disabled. Grandma can't pay for her oxygen tank, but Jeff Yass's net worth is almost doubling every year.

This fight is NOT over. We can still STOP this budget from passing. Congress will have to vote 1 or 2 more times to get this budget through both Houses of Congress. In fact, Several Republican Members of Congress have stated that they don't want to cut Medicaid and food stamps. They SAID they just voted last week for the resolution in order to move the process forward.

These Members of Congress are under a LOT of pressure from Republican leadership to pass these cuts. So they need to be under MORE pressure from us the people not to vote for them.
