Protect Virginia Transportation Funding!

The Virginia General Assembly is moving forward with plans to eliminate more than $130 million per year in dedicated funding for transportation. Over the next six years, that's nearly $800 million in transportation projects that will now be delayed.

The DC area is expected to gain 1.3 million new people and 1 million jobs over the next two decades. Much of that growth takes place in Northern Virginia. As the economic engine of the region and the entire Commonwealth, now is not the time to delay critical projects that will keep our region moving.

Now is not the time to cut transportation funding

Dear Virginia Leaders,

Now is not the time to cut more than $130 million per year from Virginia's dedicated transportation funding. Eliminating this revenue will prevent nearly $800 million in Virginia transportation projects from moving forward over the next six years.

Virginia recently announced a historic funding surplus. The General Assembly should use that surplus to ensure that the dedicated state transportation funding eliminated by repealing the grocery tax is made whole. As our Commonwealth grows, we need to continue investing in new capacity for our transportation network to keep up with increasing demand. Otherwise, we will face worsening congestion and delays that could slow the economic growth and prosperity of Virginia. Thank you for your time and consideration of this important matter.

Sincerely, [Your information here]
