Resource Generation Financial Professional Referral Questionnaire

Thank you for taking the time to complete the Resource Generation Financial Professional Referral Questionnaire. For more context, see our current Financial Professionals Database. As a team, we've developed criteria to gauge for alignment with Resource Generation's values and principles. Below, we ask for short form answers to demonstrate alignment with each criteria. In addition, we have an opportunity for you to respond to two likely scenarios in a long-form answer. We hope completing this form will take no longer than 30 minutes, and appreciate your thoughtfulness in preparing your answers. Please submit one entry per firm / organization.

How will answers be used?

  • Answers will be used to determine alignment with RG Values and make referrals to RG members. Organizations must meet all 6 of the below criteria, and full answers will be published on our website. In addition to listing aligned organizations on our website, we may make direct introductions to potential clients, actively amplify their work, and invite them to conferences.

The High Net Wealth Organizer and Transformative Investment Lead review applications, make recommendations to the Resource Mobilization scope made up of RG staff and members for final approval. We add financial professionals to the Database once to twice a year. We will reassess our referral criteria every three years.

General Information

Scenarios for Financial Planners, Wealth Managers, Investment Advisors and Money Coaches. Please respond to both scenarios.

A) A Resource Generation member has a trust containing 10 million dollars, and wishes to give 1 million dollars each year for the next 10 years and zero out the account. Please describe your previous experience with clients who have similar plans. Are there any barriers to the firm implementing this plan? What is exciting to the firm about this idea?  Please describe the questions you might ask in your first meeting with this new client.

B) A Resource Generation member has a trust containing 1 million dollars, but will gain access to subsequent trusts over the next 15 years totaling 40 million. They wish to invest 70%  in community control and worker cooperatives and are open to zero percent return/ alternative returns. Please describe your approach in connecting them to solidarity economy investment opportunities.

For Philanthropic Consultants:

A Resource Generation member has just joined the board of their family foundation. The foundation has an endowment of 10 million dollars, but only grants 500,000 a year, in line with the mandated 5% payout. Most of their grantmaking goes to their grandparents favorite mainstream charity organizations. The member wants to hold a formal meeting with the rest of the board (also family members) to discuss shifting some funding to social justice organizations, and simplifying their grant application. Their long term goals are to make multi year, general operating support grants to Black liberation organizations and to spend down the foundation.  Please describe the questions you might ask in your first meeting with this new client.  Have you worked with such a client in the past? What would be challenging about this scenario? What would be exciting?

3) Representative has reviewed the RG Transformative Investment Principles and can commit to support our members to take action in alignment with them.
