Farmers for Climate Action: Rally for Resilience

The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, along with many of its grassroots members and leading national agriculture organizations, are collectively organizing an unprecedented farmers' rally in Washington, DC from March 6-8, 2023 with a singular ask for policymakers: make climate change policy a priority in the 2023 Farm Bill.

The last significant farmers' march on DC was the 1979 Tractorcade, when farmers across the nation drove their tractors to DC to protest foreclosures on farms. The action was successful in raising awareness of the plight of farmers, loss of family farms, and need for policy reform, but since then, many of the issues which farmers protested against have become further ingrained in our agriculture system and are being compounded by global economic and climate crises.

The Rally for Resilience will call on Congress to acknowledge farmers and ranchers' pivotal role in addressing climate change, and to ensure that the next farm bill prioritizes racial justice and supports farmers as they implement solutions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to a changing climate, and ensure food security for generations to come.
