Black mothers are the backbone of our communities. Raising children, working hard, and overcoming systemic barriers every day they too often face financial crises that put their families at risk. Project Say Something's Black Mothers Emergency Fund needs your support to help, offering urgent financial support to single Black mothers and caregivers serving as safety nets for children in need.
Thanks to generous donors like you, this fund has already:
This isn't charity, it's solidarity. It's about ensuring that Black mothers and their children have the security, resources, and support they deserve.
In Alabama, Black women are two times more likely to die from pregnancy complications than their white counterparts. Many mothers are forced to choose between keeping the lights on or putting food on the table. Some struggle to afford doula care that could save their lives and their babies' lives.
That's why this fund also provides scholarships for Black doulas, increasing access to life-saving maternal care in communities where it's needed most.
Your gift today will provide a mother with:
$25 – Helps keep the lights on
$50 – Provides groceries for a family
$100 – Contributes to rent or emergency housing
$250 – Supports childcare costs so moms can work or go to school
$500+ – Covers doula services for a Black mother in need
