SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Poetry

What is considered a poem? It is what you make it. We love the traditional sonnets and odes, but we're also fascinated by more experimental and strange forms. Send us your pocket-sized masterpieces, or the work that's too strange to share with your friends.

Please ensure each poem is titled; does not exceed three pages; and is formatted in single-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman (Unless it is a stylistic choice), in a .doc, .docx, or PDF file format

Fiction

The beauty of fictional work is how much it can rely about the world while stepping outside the truth. The aim of fiction is to entertain, while also exploring themes that are harder to hone in with just fact. There are no genre limitations–we take everything from literary to fabulism, micro fiction to short stories. Make us laugh, or cry, or giggle and kick our feet.

We ask that submissions don't exceed 2,000 words, with work under 750 words considered as flash fiction. Format in the document as double-spaced 12 point Times New Roman .doc, .docx, or PDF file.

Creative Nonfiction

Creative Nonfiction is a form of storytelling that relies on the complete truth–whatever that means to the author. Unlike journalism, research papers, and other nonfiction writing (which aims to state the truth as directly and with as little bias as possible), creative nonfiction leans into narrative techniques to portray the facts. In a sense, it is less about what the story is, rather how the author is choosing to tell it, why it matters, or what it tells the reader about the authors. Things like personal narratives, memoirs, hermit crab essays, lyrical essays,  and braided essays fit into this category. Please refrain from submitting scholarly or academic writing in this category, as there is a separate section for it.

We ask that submissions don't exceed 2,000 words, with work under 750 words considered as flash nonfiction. Format in the document as double-spaced 12 point Times New Roman .doc, .docx, or PDF file.

Artwork and Photography

Tea Table accepts art of all kinds and mediums of art from classic oil paintings to alternative sculptures. We're looking for photos that capture emotion, demonstrate artistic skill, and explore new ideas. We understand that art and photography work reflects the artist's study of the classics, or it may be a product of an experiment. We accept both color and black and white. Show us your vision! We ask that pictures of artwork are professional in nature and representative of the original piece.

We accept visual art & photography in JPG or PNG formats.

Other/Hybrid

If your work doesn't fit into any categories present, please submit it under this category and we will consider it for publication!
