Join NHYM High School leaders in learning the true history of America and New Hampshire your teacher is no longer allowed to teach you in school. “Divisive" Concepts is a six part series beginning March 8 at 7:00pm, designed by high schoolers for high schoolers that will cover the real history of topics like education, voting rights, policing, immigration, healthcare, and housing. Your teachers are now censored from teaching you this stuff, so other high schoolers are stepping up and teaching it themselves.
Why are we doing this?
Last summer, conservative lawmakers in New Hampshire snuck into the state budget a ban on teaching NH students about the real history of race, gender, and discrimination in our country. They call telling students the truth about things like racism in our country and state “divisive concepts,” and are forcing teachers to leave out true history in their classes. We know, in order to win a better future, we must learn about our country and state's past—both the good and ugly—and these topics are anything but “divisive.” In the face of censorship in our schools, high school students are stepping up to educate each other about racism and sexism in history and present, and taking action to win a better future in New Hampshire.

This is for high school students! These calls won't suck! This is a space designed to build community and learn together in interactive ways. This is a six part education series on Zoom featuring interactive sessions taught by high school students, interviews with experts and people with lived experience, and opportunities to take action to make NH a better state for all of us. Calls will take place one evening each week beginning March 8 at 7:00pm, and we ask that you attend all of them. A form to gauge accessibility needs will be sent after you sign up—we'll do our best to accomodate all accessibility needs.
