Lobby Day 2019
(Registration form below!)
UPDATE: Start time is now 9:30 AM!
Join us for our 2019 Lobby Day! This full-day action is an opportunity to speak directly with state lawmakers and advocate for LGBTQ justice. Our central focus this year is to pass Adi's Act, a law that would provide much needed resources to schools across Oregon to prevent youth suicide. In addition, we will continue advocating for Paid Family Medical Leave, Revenue Reform, and much more.
SB52, or Adi's Act, is named after Adi Staub who tragically died of suicide in 2017. We know all too well that LGBTQ youth are at a dramatically higher risk of suicide than their cisgender and straight peers, and in Adi's memory this bill will provide critical resources and guidance to schools throughout Oregon to prevent LGBTQ youth suicide.
Lobby Day starts off with a full lobbying 101 training and time to meet directly with your regional team and volunteer lobby leader to plan your day. BRO will provide you with all the materials and secure visits with lawmakers from your area. Your group will have a schedule of meetings with electeds, where you will share your stories and urge them to advocate for Adi's Act and other bills BRO supports!
This is absolutely worth taking a day off work or school. Lobby Day is a rare and absolutely awesome volunteer action, and I would be thrilled to see you there.
Carpools, child care, and leadership opportunities are all available! You will see those options listed below.
