Wisconsin Climate Accountability Act

Wisconsin Lacks a Climate Plan

Wisconsin has no legislature-adopted plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions and meet critical climate goals. Without action, our state will face worsening climate disasters, rising costs, and lost economic opportunities.

We have an obligation to act now—protecting future generations from worsening public health risks, economic instability, and environmental destruction. Bold climate action will not only safeguard our environment but lower energy costs, create good-paying green jobs, and improve public health, especially in communities hit hardest by pollution and economic disparities. The time for words is over—we need real policy action now.

The Solution: Pass the Climate Accountability Act

The Climate Accountability Act, authored by Rep Supreme Moore Omokunde and Chris Larson,  would require Wisconsin to:

✅ Adopt a concrete, enforceable climate action plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, aligning with the Paris Climate Accords and global scientific consensus.

✅ Ensure that climate action maximizes economic benefits for all Wisconsin residents,  particularly those in urban and rural areas who have been historically excluded from economic opportunities.
