Stand With West Penn Nurses!

It's time for us to stand with West Penn nurses!

Pennsylvania has the worst nursing shortage in the country, with 20,000 unfilled nursing positions. Nurses today take care of sicker patients with less support staff and less resources than ever before. In Pittsburgh and throughout the region, the healthcare industry is failing to invest in and keep experienced nurses at the bedside, which is impacting patient care. That's why West Penn nurses are calling for Allegheny Health Network to invest in nurse retention and recruitment across the region.

West Penn nurses have worked to develop a clear strategy to modernize the nursing profession, while retaining the hospital's current crop of experienced nurses. But to date, despite some progress, they have not seen AHN commit to the levels of investment necessary to make that a reality.

For that reason, West Penn union nurses are committed to winning a contract that meets the growing patient care needs in our region and have voted 99.3% to authorize their nurse negotiating committee to send a strike notice if necessary. West Penn nurses don't want to strike, but they're ready to take action for their patients.

It's time for us as community members, patients, colleagues, and friends to stand in solidarity with West Penn nurses as they prepare to do whatever it takes to stand up for their patients. Sign on here in support:
