Tell the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee: REJECT William Pendley as BLM Director

Last Friday, President Trump formally nominated William Perry Pendley as the Director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). This is literally putting the fox in charge of the henhouse!

Pendley has spent his career fighting to sell off public lands to private industry. As the current acting BLM director, he has worked to undermine environmental laws protecting public lands and wildlife. His mass roundup plan for America's wild horses would set these national icons on a path to extinction while costing taxpayers billions of dollars. Please sign today to ask the Senate to reject Pendley's nomination.

Dear Chairman Murkowski and Ranking Member Manchin,

I call on you to reject the nomination of William Perry Pendley as Director of the Bureau of Land Management.

Prior to his tenure at the BLM, Mr. Pendley spent his career fighting to sell off public lands to the very industries that pose the greatest environmental threats. As acting BLM director, he's stepped up efforts to undermine environmental laws like the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act.

Mr. Pendley's claim that wild horses are the "biggest existential threat" to public lands not only false, it's deceptive. Wild horses occupy just 12% of BLM lands and are protected under federal law. Mr. Pendley is scapegoating wild horses for environmental damage caused by the industries he's working to deregulate. He's creating a false crisis in order to justify mass wild horse roundups and set the nation's wild horses and burros a a path that will lead to mass slaughter and extinction.

Pendley is uniquely unfit to serve as guardian of our public lands and the wild animals. Please reject his nomination as director of the BLM.

Sincerely,
