This workshop is designed for farmers interested in delving deeper into the microbial world to better understand healthy soil.
Soil microbiologist Dr. Elaine Ingham is the founder and director of Research at Soil Foodweb, Inc. A native Minnesotan, Ingham is a graduate of St. Olaf College, and has a PhD from Colorado State Univ. Along with Colorado State, she's taught soil microbiology at the Univ. of Georgia and Oregon State Univ. and was chief scientist at the Rodale Institute in Pennsylvania from 2011-2013. She is an author of the USDA's Soil Biology Primer. At Soilfoodweb, Inc., Ingham assists both conventional and organic farmers in boosting soil health.
The morning presentation session will start at 9:00 am and go until noon with a meal to follow. The all day workshop includes the morning presentation, lunch and a microscope lab. We will learn more about soil biology and how to best view and identify the critters that make up healthy soil.
