The bill banning transgender youth from participating in sports has advanced in the Missouri legislature. HB 2197 was voted out of the House General Laws Committee. It was originally a harmful piece of legislation banning all transgender girls from participating on girl's sports teams and was substituted into a mean-spirited bill that harms all transgender youth. HB 2197, which does allow all youth to participate on sports teams according to the gender they know themselves to be UNTIL they make it to the playoffs and then have to sit out and forfeit playing. 

We need your help to:
1. Sign our petition stating that you OPPOSE banning trans kids from playing sports!
2. Call the House Rules Committee and tell them to VOTE NO on this mean-spirited bill

The original Senate bill (SB 781 Moon R-29) is still sitting on the Senate Calendar, headed for floor debate any day. 

Transgender youth deserve the opportunity to play the sports they love and experience the valuable lessons of being on a team with their peers — teamwork, discipline, success, and failure. Excluding transgender children from normal school activities fuels a culture of bias that puts kids in danger, and failing to support transgender student-athletes only perpetuates a culture of bias. Remind Missouri lawmakers that sports are for everyone and that we play together for the love of the game and love of the team.
