By expanding the "small business" definition from 10 to 25 employees, this bill would strip essential protections from thousands of workers, disproportionately impacting our community. Healthcare workers, who are essential to our well-being, would face exemptions that could force them to work while sick, putting themselves and their patients at risk. The bill also removes protections for part-time workers, many of whom juggle multiple jobs to make ends meet. Parents would face more burdensome requirements when needing to care for sick children, including stricter documentation and notification rules.

Perhaps most concerning is the disproportionate impact this bill would have on Black and brown workers and their families, who are already 60% less likely to have access to paid sick time. These changes would only make it harder for vulnerable communities to thrive.
