Accelerated helicopter roundups to cruelly capture and remove tens of thousands of federally protected wild horses and burros from our public lands over the next five years.
Wild horses and foals literally running for their lives, chased by helicopters to pure exhaustion. Foals left abandoned and hungry without their mothers, alone on the range. Panicked horses breaking limbs, backs or necks during the chase or in trap pens.
That is the reality of what's taking place on our public lands. It's unscientific. It's fiscally reckless. It's grossly inhumane, and it's sending truckloads of these federally-protected icons into the slaughter pipleine.
Worst of all, it's harming our wildlife and public landscapes by shifting blame to wild horses and burros while ignoring the real causes of environmental degradation - including the massive numbers of livestock the BLM allows to graze on virtually all of the land it manages in the American West
Most recently, the BLM's wild horse roundup in the Wyoming Checkerboard left a trail of animal welfare violations. This program is not sustainable and the abuse of our wild horses and burros must be investigated, exposed... and ended.
We need you to email your Member of Congress right now and ask them to encourage the House Natural Resources Committee to hold an oversight hearing as a first step in reining in and reforming the BLM's broken Wild Horse & Burro Program. Please personalize and send the email below:
