HANA Civic Leaders Fellowship Summer 2022 Application

Welcome to you all!

Thank you for applying to our summer program, Civic Leaders Fellowship!

Five to eight applicants will be accepted into this program, our summer session will begin on July 5th and finish on August 19th, and will continue with HANA Center's Civic Engagement Project in the Fall. We will be spending this summer learning about community organizing and how Asian American and immigrant communities can build collective power.

We will kick off our program on July 5th with orientation and begin our first programming on July 11th (Monday). A weekly commitment is 16 hours over two days (Monday and Wednesday, subject to change) for six weeks (until August 19th). The participants will get a stipend for their participation in a lump sum amount of $500 depending on meeting the fellowship requirements. After the summer session, all participants are invited to join the college-aged youth group at HANA Center called CORaL (College youth Organizing for Radical Leadership).

Some of the required tasks to participate in this program include:

  • Direct engagement with the community members during HANA's Civic Engagement Campaign
    • Voter Registration
    • Community Education
    • Voting Assistance
    • Doorknocking
    • Phong Banking
  • Workshops on various topics
    • Racial Justice
    • Gender
    • Immigration
    • Community Organizing
  • Communicating clearly and timely with all parties involved in the fellowship

The fellowship will be conducted in person, unless otherwise notified, with the appropriate COVID-19 measure to ensure the safety of the participants. The deadline for the application is June 12th, 11:59 pm, 2022. We will invite short-listed candidates for 2nd round of interviews.

Please send any questions and concerns to our community organizer, Youngwoon Han (yhan@hanacenter.org).

HANA Center believes that policy and power systems disproportionately hurts the most marginalized in society including people of color, immigrants, undocumented, low-income, women, and the LGBTQ community. We believe these communities must be centered on the work that we do. Therefore, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members or other marginalized communities
