We are students, 7th to 12th graders, from across Southeastern Pennsylvania, participants in the Children First Justice in Education Fellowship, and proud advocates for fair funding for our education.

Every student has the right to a high-quality education regardless of their zip code. Every school district must have adequate resources to deliver a high-quality education regardless of its zip code. Right now, that's not the reality.

Pennsylvania's school funding system has been ruled unconstitutional by the Commonwealth Court, primarily because it disproportionately underinvests in the students who require funding the most. According to the 2024 Basic Education Funding Commission, 77% of PA school districts are underfunded, and they teach the majority of Black, brown, and low-income children and teens. In order to support every student adequately, Pennsylvania must increase its education funding by $5.4 billion.
