Dear President Whitten and the Board of Trustees at Indiana University,

We at Sunrise Bloomington demand that Indiana University publicly disclose its investments in the fossil fuel industry [1], fully divest from fossil fuels, and reinvest in funds that promote sustainability and respect for the environment. 

First, as transparency is essential to ensure Indiana University's endowment meets the goals of the university and the communities it serves, we call on you to publicly disclose all current direct and indirect investments in the fossil fuel industry in an annual document.

Second, we urge you to immediately freeze any new investment in fossil-fuel companies; and to divest, within two years, from direct ownership and from any commingled funds that include fossil-fuel public equities and corporate bonds.

Finally, we call on Indiana University to use its financial power for reparative justice by supporting environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, and community-based investment and working with Sunrise Bloomington and all interested community members to create a reinvestment plan focused on climate justice and a sustainable future for all.
