Mountain lions and other wild animals in California's Santa Monica Mountains are in grave danger.
Highway 101, a ten-lane highway in the Los Angeles area, acts as a deadly barrier between animals and the wilderness. Mountain lions, coyotes, bobcats, gopher snakes, western toads, desert cottontails and mule deer who attempt to cross are often struck and killed by cars, and those who do not are suffering. The Los Angeles cougar population is now facing extinction!
Plans are underway to build a life-saving wildlife crossing at Liberty Canyon. But it won't be cheap. The lion's share of the funds have already been raised by the National Wildlife Federation's #SaveLACougars campaign, but an additional $27-$34 million is urgently needed.
We have spent years fighting for these beautiful animals, and finally a major, life-changing victory is within reach. Please consider making a donation today to support the Wildlife Crossing at Liberty Canyon. We'll donate 50% of every contribution to build the Liberty Canyon wildlife crossing and the rest of your donation will go toward our crucial advocacy work for wildlife crossings.
