Join Us in Encouraging Vernon Electric to Cut Carbon Emissions In Homes

We at Citizen Action of Wisconsin have been urging utility companies to access federal money to start upgrading homes in the community to be more energy efficient, creating jobs, cutting carbon and saving people money right away. And it looks like we have been successful: Vernon Electric is applying for the federal USDA money to help residents upgrade their homes in Southwestern WI with insulation, new heat pumps and more (known as "on-bill financing"), hopefully starting this Summer!

Vernon Electric Co-op may not be your utility, but it is for over 11,000 of our neighbors. And if we can get a shining example of this going here in Southwestern WI, we believe we can get the other utilities to follow their lead and make a large dent in carbon emissions contributing to climate change.

Vernon Electric annual member-meeting is Saturday March 21st at their location in Westby, and we have members attending with the intent to speak. We want to have a visible presence of people there to show solidarity with our member-speakers and to both thank Vernon Electric for pursuing this course of action while encouraging them to be as bold as possible! Can you attend and/or help us get the word out?
