TYPES OF CHOW CLASSES
Front of House Service 101: Introduction to Service in Fine Dining Restaurants This is a beginners course meant for people who are new to the industry, who have worked in fast food-casual restaurants or for folks who currently work in restaurants in the back-of-house or support staff positions. This course will give students the base knowledge on fine dining service and will cover positions from hosting, bussing, food running and serving. -REQUIREMENTS: Have some background in customer service or a passion for it!
Front of House Service 201: Advanced Service in Fine Dining Restaurants This is an advanced fine dining course that will focus on more knowledge-based information & technicalities rather than skills. Students will delve into learning about food as well as wine and how to pair the two. We will also cover current industry trends and be able to practice serving tables from beginning to end. -REQUIREMENTS: Have graduated from Service 101 or have worked in the front-of-house in restaurants as a host, busser, food runner or server.
Bartending 101: Introduction to the Bar This class will give students the basic knowledge and skills to help them become a barback, working their way up to bartending. The class will cover alcohol, wine & beer knowledge, alcohol & bartending laws, bar etiquette, garnishing and basic drink mixing. -REQUIREMENTS: Have graduated from Front of House Service 201 or have experience working in restaurants as a server. Some exceptions apply.
Bartending 201: Mixology This class will give students the advanced bartending skills. The class will cover alcohol, wine & beer knowledge, alcohol & bartending laws, bar etiquette, garnishing and advanced drink mixing. -REQUIREMENTS: Have graduated from Bartending 101 or have experience working in restaurants as a bartender. Some exceptions apply.
Bartending 202: Wine This class will give students the advanced bartending skills. The class will cover advanced wine & beer knowledge and sommelier techniques. -REQUIREMENTS: Have graduated from Bartending 101 or have experience working in restaurants as a bartender. Some exceptions apply.
CHOW Certification Complete Front-of-House and Back-of-House training. Graduates receive full job placement assistance and a graduation ceremony. -REQUIREMENTS: Attend orientation session at you local chapter office.
