RODERICK CORPUZ'S IMAC 70.3 SRNA FUNDRAISING PAGE

WELCOME TO MY SRNA FUNDRAISING PAGE: I will be racing in Ironman Atlantic City 70.3 this upcoming September 12th, and raising money for the Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association. SRNA is a nonprofit organization that relies on philanthropic support to sustain its mission: to improve the quality of life of any person who is diagnosed with a rare neuroimmune disorder. As a nonprofit organization, they rely on community support to provide the best support available to people diagnosed with rare neuroimmune disorders, and their families. 100% of donations to SRNA supports the organization’s highest ongoing priorities. This past May 2021, my wife Erin was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis. This is a rare condition due to inflammation of the spinal cord, which causes neurological dysfunction. Erin was temporarily unable to walk on her own. She experienced numbness, tingling sensations, and constant fatigue. She was unable to do daily activities as a mother, activities for her business, or practice her yoga. After weeks of hospitalization, treatment, and physical therapy, she was discharged and able to return home with a long road to recovery ahead. The diagnosis could have discouraged her, and dampened her spirits. However, it did not. She had a positive mental attitude from the very beginning. She credited her progress to her healthy condition prior to her diagnosis. She was equipped with a strong nutritional diet. In addition, she learned skillsets from meditation and her yoga practice. Her mentality has been that if she didn’t take care of herself beforehand; she could have been worse off. Her approach and how she carries herself has been incredibly inspiring and motivating. The past few months have been incredibly hard on her, but also on our family. While I was taking on more responsibilities due to the circumstances, she encouraged me to continue with my training as a triathlete. With races being minimal this year, I still heavily relied on my training for stress management and self-care. Erin’s condition of Transverse Myelitis was unexpected and disrupted her life. We’re still learning about it as she recovers, but we’re thankful for the SRNA to rely on, which has been our main resource for support and information. My goal is to raise awareness about these rare neuroimmune disorders, while providing support to the individuals and their families that have endured through these issues. Please consider supporting my fundraiser leading up to Ironman Atlantic City 70.3. Every donation makes a meaningful impact in the lives of people diagnosed with rare neuroimmune disorders. I am racing in Erin's honor. I will also be with you all in spirit come race day. Thank you for all the love and support for Erin, my family, and me. Regards, Roderick Corpuz
