11/21 Update: The raffle has concluded and a winner has been contacted! Thank you so much to everyone who bought tickets to support MECA! We are thrilled to have surpassed our goal of raising $10,000! You are welcome to continue donating to MECA through this page, but you will not be entered for a chance to win the quilt. -------- ~BOUND TOGETHER: a Jewish Voice for Peace Bay Area community quilt project~ Bound Together draws inspiration from the AIDS Memorial Quilt and the “From Occupation to Liberation” quilt unfurled on the steps of the Met in protest of the museum’s investment in and profit from Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Our quilt received 40 quilt block submissions from community members. Now that our beautiful quilt has been finished, it's time to turn art into action - and aid! At a time of ever-increasing devastation and horror, now beyond a year of genocide, we resist fascism in all ways we can, including and especially through art. Collectively, we made something beautiful, something comforting, and soft. Bound Together is so much greater than what any of us could create individually. We are inspired by the making of this piece of art that is soft and durable, a blanket one can be wrapped in, as a resistance to the harshness of colonization, imperialism, zionism, and genocide. May we continue to create softness and resist fascism in every way we can, until Palestinians and all people are free.❤️🔥 The Raffle: We have chosen to raffle our quilt to raise money for MECA's "Gaza Emergency" fund. MECA is an incredible organization based in Berkeley that's been able to continue providing life-saving aid to Palestinians throughout the current genocide. MECA's staff and local partners in Gaza are on the ground responding to the most urgent needs of children and families. Please give now to provide medical aid, clean water, food, psychological support, and more. Donate now for a chance to win the Bound Together quilt! Each $5 donation gets you one raffle ticket. There is no limit to how many raffle tickets you can submit, i.e. a $5 donation gets you one ticket, a $10 donation gets you 2 tickets, and so on. The raffle runs Oct 12 through Nov 16 (UPDATE: we are extending the raffle past the 11/16 date since we are SO close to our goal. We will update this when the raffle has officially closed). Keep an eye out for the quilt at Bay Area community actions & events throughout this time! MECA's annual holiday crafts bazaar will be Saturday, Nov 16, where our quilt will have its final showing before the raffle ends and we announce the winner. AND- we have an exciting opportunity to receive a risograph print of the quilt, made by one of the quilt team members. For all raffle entries of $100 or more, you will receive a print. If you previously donated but want to buy more tickets to total at least $100, just be sure to use the same name. We will be in contact for shipping info after the raffle ends. We understand that not everyone has space to hang this quilt. Do not let that prevent you from donating generously! We will have a list of local businesses who would accept the quilt as a donation and display it for the community, should that option interest the winner. In solidarity, JVPBA quilt team
