In 2021, state lawmakers in all 50 states introduced over 500 voter suppression bills to make it harder to get registered and cast our ballots. Passing federal voting rights legislation is the single most important thing we can do to protect access to the ballot box.
We need Congress to do its part and pass voting rights legislation to ensure equal and unimpeded access to the ballot box for all Americans. In order to do this, the Senate must protect democracy by eliminating or instituting meaningful reform to the filibuster -- a Jim Crow-era tool that has been increasingly used by the political party that is not in power to block legislation.
