Support Safe Passing in the 89th Legislature

The Texas House Committee on Transportation could consider HB 535, the Safe Passing bill by Rep. Ray Lopez very soon, and you may be able to help move this important legislation through the committee. This bill establishes clear, statewide guidelines for when we are driving how to safely pass people outside of cars and to ensure that we keep our vehicle at least three feet away from hurting a person.

Once you enter your information, the next page will tell you one of two things:

  • If you live in the district of a member of the House Transportation Committee, it will show you a draft letter. Please feel free to edit the letter, but be nice, respectful and positive about the bill. Definitlely include your own experience of traffic crashes or feeling unsafe on Texas streets if you would like to.
  • If you don't live in the district, it will let you know that you can't use this form, but will give you a link to our other letter campaign that will let you sent a broad letter in support of all the safety bills.
