You are cordially invited to the 20th annual Walter B. and Kay W. Shurden Lectures on Religious Liberty and Seperation of Chuch and State. This year's lectures will be taking place on November 13 and 14, 2024, and will be hosted on the Macon and Atlanta campuses of Mercer University. Dr. John Compton, a professor and chair of Political Science at Chapman University, will be delivering a series of lectures titled "The Politics of Secularization." The details of each lecture are included below.
Lecture I: "Democratic Values in a Secular Age" - Wednesday, November 13th at 3:30pm in the Griffin B. Bell and Frank C. Jones Courtroom at Mercer Law School on the Macon Campus of Mercer University.
Lecture II: "Secularization and the Rise of Political Extremism" - Wednesday, November 13th at 5:30pm in the Peyton Anderson Auditorium in the Science and Engineering Building on the Macon Campus of Mercer University
Lecture III and Luncheon: "Secularization and the Fracturing of the American Left" - Thursday, November 14th at 12:15pm in the Trustees Dining Room on the Atlanta Campus of Mercer University
